Employee Spotlight: Cody — Bringing Trusted Light Commercial Installs, Ductwork & Commercial HVAC Maintenance to the Foothills

Meet Employee of the Month Cody

At G.M. Mechanical, our commitment to quality starts with the people behind the work. This month, we’re proud to spotlight Cody, our January Employee of the Month, whose experience and craftsmanship are an important part of the light commercial installs, ductwork, and commercial HVAC maintenance services we provide across the Foothills.

Cody now calls Calgary home and has lived between south Calgary and Okotoks for decades. His work regularly takes him throughout the region, and as someone who has lived and worked here this long, he’s very familiar with the unique needs of HVAC services in the Foothills. With 39 years in the sheet-metal trade, he brings a rare depth of practical experience to every job he touches. When business owners see a clean, stable installation supporting their heating or cooling system, there’s often a skilled sheet-metal professional like Cody behind that finished product.

Although Cody spent roughly 30 years doing more residential furnace work earlier in his career, he now focuses predominantly on the commercial HVAC side of things at G.M. Mechanical. Today, he’s a key part of the team that handles light commercial installs, rooftop units (RTUs), make-up air units (MUAs), and a significant amount of commercial maintenance — all of which support the broader plumbing and heating services in Okotoks and the Foothills that G.M. Mechanical is known for.

Expert heating services in the Foothills and Cody’s 39 years in the sheet-metal trade

Cody’s primary trade is sheet metal, and he’s been working in the trade for 39 years. That background is a perfect fit for a company like G.M. Mechanical, which provides comprehensive cooling and heating services in the Foothills.

The systems Cody works on are often larger commercial units such as RTUs and MUAs, which play a vital role in keeping businesses comfortable and safe. Behind every reliable heating system — whether it’s serving a home, a shop, or a larger commercial building — is a network of carefully designed ducts, transitions, and fittings that move air safely and efficiently. From small offices to light commercial spaces, Cody’s workmanship helps ensure that these systems deliver consistent airflow and stable temperatures during the Foothills’ coldest months.

The work he does might not always be visible once the ceiling tiles are back in place or the mechanical room is cleaned up, but it directly supports the comfort and performance building owners, staff, and customers experience every day.

Commercial HVAC services in the Foothills: Cody’s favourite tasks and why he chose G.M. Mechanical

When a business owner or property manager trusts G.M. Mechanical with a commercial HVAC project, they’re counting on equipment and ductwork that will keep people comfortable when temperatures drop. Cody’s decades of experience ensure that every job is done right, with the attention to detail needed to deliver lasting comfort and reliability.

When asked why he chose G.M. Mechanical over another company, Cody’s answer is simple and sincere: the company is “very easy to work for and they take pride in their work.” That alignment of values matters. Our goal of delivering reliable plumbing, HVAC and electrical services in the Foothills is only possible because team members like Cody bring care, precision, and pride to what they do.

His favourite tasks — installing sheet metal and handling fabrication — are often the difference between a system that simply runs and one that runs efficiently, quietly, and reliably. That level of craftsmanship is at the heart of our HVAC work.

Life outside work: getting to know Cody

Behind every strong set of commercial HVAC services is a person with their own story, interests, and passions. For Cody, life outside work still reflects his love of mechanics, motion, and building things that last.

In his spare time, Cody enjoys drag racing and building cars and motorbikes. These hobbies require patience, precision, and a deep understanding of how mechanical systems function under pressure — the same qualities that serve him well when working on sheet-metal, ductwork, RTUs, MUAs, and broader mechanical projects in Foothills buildings.

When Cody says his favourite part of the job is “seeing the finished product,” it’s easy to see how that fits both his professional and personal life — whether it’s a cleanly installed duct system or a vehicle he has carefully built.

As a father of three, Cody also understands what it means to keep a space running smoothly and comfortably. That perspective adds a human layer to his role in our commercial department and to the HVAC services that G.M. Mechanical provides in the Foothills.

Thank you, Cody

Employee spotlights at G.M. Mechanical aren’t just about who appears in our newsletter, blogs, or social media posts — they’re a way of saying thank you to the people who make our promises to customers possible. Cody’s 39 years in the sheet-metal trade, his commitment to high-quality fabrication, and his pride in seeing the finished product all strengthen the commercial side of our work.

Cody, thank you for everything you bring to the team — your craftsmanship, your reliability, and the care you bring to each project. Your work plays a key role in helping Foothills businesses feel confident in their heating systems during the coldest months of the year.
